Sieler and VanBrandt set to face off in weekend matchup

In softball, two top hitters from the Monroe County Region will face off this weekend as Michigan’s Ellie Sieler and Indiana’s Aly VanBrandt compete in the Division 4 state finals. Sieler leads Michigan with a .363 average, while VanBrandt holds a .380 average for Indiana. Both players have been impressive recently, with Sieler hitting back-to-back home runs and going 7-for-9 in a three-game series.

Meanwhile, in prep baseball, Bedford suffered an 8-3 loss to Warren DeLaSalle despite outpacing their opponents with six hits. Despite the loss, several players contributed hits for Bedford, including Jace Bloomer and Andrew Kuebbeler who had RBIs.

In youth wrestling, Sullivan Layne of Monroe, a third grader at Manor Elementary, won a MYWAY state championship during the weekend. In adult soccer, Travis Campbell scored five goals to lead Old Crows to an 8-5 victory over Athletico on the opening night of Winter Session III at LevelUp Training. Rev. Mike Anagbogu scored twice for Athletico.
