Control Your iPhone and iPad Using Eye Gestures: Apple Unveils Exciting New Feature

Apple has recently announced a range of updates in honor of Global Disability Awareness Day, including the launch of Eye Tracking technology. This innovative feature allows users to control their iPhones and iPads simply by looking at the screen, making it particularly helpful for those with physical disabilities. Eye Tracking is set to become available later this year and does not access or share any personal data.

In addition to Eye Tracking, Apple unveiled Music Haptics, a new music experience for deaf or hard of hearing users that includes different vibrations and taps along with music audio. Other updates include Vocal Shortcuts, which enables users to launch Siri shortcuts using custom phrases, and Listen for Atypical Speech, a feature that recognizes a broader range of speech patterns for those with speech conditions.

Apple CEO Tim Cook emphasized the company’s commitment to inclusive design by stating “For nearly 40 years, Apple has championed accessibility at the core of our hardware and software.” These updates will be incorporated into iOS and iPadOS without the need for any additional hardware.

Another intriguing feature announced by Apple is Vehicle Motion Cues, aimed at helping those who suffer from motion sickness. This feature displays moving black dots on the edge of device screens to indicate the direction of vehicle movement, which can help alleviate the sensory conflict between what a person sees and what they feel. With these new updates, Apple continues to prioritize accessibility and inclusivity in its products and services.
