Lim and Li Still Wrestling, but Korean Improves to Top Qualifying Position

Archery enthusiasts gathered in Yecheon for the second stage of the Hyundai Archery World Cup, eager to witness the ongoing rivalry between Lim Sihyeon and Li Jiaman. Sihyeon, the world number two, had previously been defeated by Jiaman’s Chinese team in Shanghai, but was determined to seek revenge.

As the competition began, Sihyeon and Jiaman traded positions atop the recurve women’s qualification leaderboard. Despite facing challenging wind conditions in the beginning, Sihyeon’s familiarity with the Yecheon environment helped her secure her spot at the top with a final score of 685 points. Meanwhile, Jiaman finished third with a score of 678, behind Sihyeon’s teammate Jeon Hunyoung (680) and ahead of Shanghai runner-up Deepika Kumari (677).

Kumari expressed her need for more confidence in her technique to improve her team’s performance. As the Indian recurve women’s team seeded sixth and Sihyeon’s Korean team secured the top spot, the competition between these two archers remained intense. The upcoming matches in Yecheon promise to showcase their rivalry once again, adding excitement to the event.

The competition will continue with recurve team eliminations in the morning before moving on to individual matchplay in the afternoon on Thursday. With top archers like Sihyeon, Jiaman, and Kumari competing fiercely throughout this tournament, it promises to be an exciting and thrilling event for both competitors and spectators alike.
