The Lakewood Cancer Center, a 19,270 square-foot addition to the existing clinic, is set to be completed by the summer of 2025. This project was officially announced last month by Lakewood Health System in Staples. The new facility will be located just southwest of the clinic and its groundbreaking is scheduled for the upcoming spring.
The decision to move forward with the Cancer Center was made due to the significant growth of Lakewood’s oncology team and services over the past two years. There has also been a steady increase in provider coverage, making an expansion necessary.
The state-of-the-art Cancer Center will feature 14 infusion bays, an in-house PET/CT scan machine, and other advanced facilities. The addition of such a facility in a rural setting like Staples is unprecedented, benefiting both patients and healthcare workers.
Among its amenities, the Cancer Center will have a dedicated reception and waiting area, with oncology case managers conveniently located within the new space for easy access to patients. This project is a significant step for the local healthcare system and will greatly benefit the community.
