Cameroon Football Association Surprised by Sports Ministry’s Choice of New Team Coach

The sports ministry in Cameroon has appointed Marc Brys as the new coach of the national team, replacing Rigobert Song. However, the decision was made unilaterally and goes against the terms of Decree No. 2014/384 regarding the organization of national football teams.

The football federation in Cameroon is shocked by this development and has expressed its astonishment at the decision. They have stated that they were not aware of Brys’ appointment and are currently investigating the situation. FIFA prohibits government involvement in national football, so this move raises concerns about compliance with regulations.

Song had led the team to the round of 16 in the Africa Cup of Nations earlier this year, and his contract expired after the tournament ended. The federation is now working to resolve this issue and is in contact with FIFA to address their concerns about Brys’ appointment without their knowledge. They are disappointed at the lack of consultation in the decision-making process and emphasized the importance of adhering to regulations governing national football teams.
