Pan Zhanle sets World Record and leads China to 4x100m Free gold

At the 2023 World Aquatics Championships in Doha, Qatar, Chinese swimmer Ji Xinjie shattered the World Record in the men’s 4x100m freestyle event with a time of 3:11.08. This was just six hundredths of a second off Romanian David Popovici’s previous record set at the 2022 World Aquatics Championships in Budapest, Hungary.

Italy took silver in the event with a time of 3:12.08 and the United States finished in third place with a time of 3:12.29. Pan, who came into Doha with one world championship medal under his belt, a silver from the 4x100m Medley Relay at the World Aquatics Championships – Fukuoka 2023, won three golds at the Asian Games in Hangzhou, China before this race.
