ICC Says T20 World Cup Match Venue in New York Will Be as Large as Wankhede: Cricket News

Cricket is on the brink of a major breakthrough in the United States as the T20 World Cup is scheduled to take place in June. The sport’s re-entry into the Olympics in Los Angeles in 2028 adds to the excitement. The Nassau County Stadium, located 35 kilometers east of Manhattan, was inaugurated by Usain Bolt and is set to host a major highlight of the tournament – an India-Pakistan group league game on June 9.

The stadium, with a capacity of 34,000, was completed in just six months due to the efforts of the ICC and United States Cricket. Chris Tetley, ICC’s head of events, assured that the Nassau County ground meets international standards and has top-notch drainage facilities. The transformation from a municipal park to an international cricket stadium is a testament to the dedication and hard work put in by all involved.

The pitches at the Nassau County Stadium were prepared under the expertise of Damian Hough, head curator of Adelaide Oval. Hough ensured that the pitches had pace and bounce, providing an ideal playing surface for the tournament. The temporary galleries brought in from the Formula One track in Las Vegas will be in place for the duration of the tournament before being returned.

With all preparations complete and anticipation building up, cricket fans are eagerly looking forward to witnessing historic T20 World Cup matches at Nassau County Stadium – a ground that is set to make its mark on global cricket stage.
