Man threatens to detonate explosives at local business in Spirit Lake, IA

A Dickinson County man, identified as 43-year-old Darin Naatjes, has been arrested after allegedly making threats to shoot and kill people and blow up a convenience store just west of Spirit Lake. Naatjes was charged with terrorism and trespassing according to a criminal complaint filed by the Sheriff’s Office.

The incident occurred on Friday, June 7, when Naatjes threatened to kill multiple people at Vicks Corner and to blow up the building. Despite being asked to leave multiple times, Naatjes refused to do so and was subsequently arrested and booked into the Dickinson County Jail on Friday night. His bond has been set at $10,000.

The authorities are taking the threats seriously and Naatjes will have to face the legal consequences of his actions. The safety and security of the community are of utmost importance and any threats of violence will not be tolerated. The investigation into the incident is ongoing and more information may be released as it becomes available.
