Two men from the Los Angeles area apprehended following a robbery at an El Paseo establishment

On Monday at approximately 5:30 p.m., a theft occurred at a business on the 73000 block of El Paseo in Palm Desert. Two men, aged 47 and 40, entered the premises, concealed merchandise on their persons and left without payment. The suspects then fled in a white, newer-model Lexus.

The investigation into the matter was undertaken by the Palm Desert Special Enforcement Team (SET) and the Palm Desert Business District Team (BDT). The suspects were located at a shopping center in La Quinta at around 8:35 p.m. They attempted to flee but were apprehended after a short pursuit.

The stolen items, as well as suspected stolen wine bottles and medication, were recovered by deputies from inside the suspects’ vehicle. Both men were taken into custody and booked into the John Benoit Detention Center for grand theft and felony evading.

The investigation is still ongoing, and anyone with information about the theft or the recovered items is encouraged to contact Deputy Hindiyeh or Deputy Botella at the Palm Desert Sheriff’s Station. They can be reached at 760-836-1600.
