Schlein confirms unity approach and prepares for European election candidacy

The European elections are just around the corner, and the lists are almost finalized. During a recent meeting at Nazarene, it was reported that all members of the Democratic Party secretariat have urged Elly Schlein to run in the European elections. Various options have been put forward, and Schlein will take time to decide before making an announcement.

In terms of potential candidates, Emanuele Fiano, Giorgio Gori, and Pierfrancesco Maran are expected to run in the North West constituency. The Center constituency is also likely to be crowded with names like Nicola Zingaretti, Dario Nardella, and Camilla Laureti. Outside personalities such as Marco Tarquinio and Lucia Annunziata are also being considered for leadership positions in different constituencies.

The Democratic Party’s main focus is on confirming their growth over the past year and building an alternative to the current government’s policies. They aim to push for the popular initiative law on the minimum wage and address issues related to health care and social inequality. The party is also concerned about attacks on freedom of information and developments in Hungary that threaten democratic values. They see themselves as a bulwark against right-wing movements led by politicians like Salvini and Meloni who they believe are detrimental to Europe’s future.
