The Detroit Metropolitan Wayne County Airport is launching a new program called Small Business Operators Arriving Ready (SOAR) to support small businesses. The program will allow small businesses to operate specialty retail shops in the Evans Terminal, starting on Feb. 13.
Interested business owners can attend the SOAR outreach event on Feb. 13, but must RSVP by the previous day. To reserve a spot, click here. Registration for the event will begin at 8:30 a.m., and it will be held at the Wayne County Community College District Ted Scott campus at 9555 Haggerty Road, Belleville.
In addition to the outreach event, businesses will also have the opportunity to learn about the request for proposals process at a workshop on Feb. 19. To register for the workshop, visit the airport’s website after the outreach event. Both events will be held at Ted Scott campus at Haggerty Road, Belleville.
Wayne County Airport Authority CEO Chad Newton stated, “Small businesses are at the heart of Michigan’s economy. As one of Detroit Metro’s largest economic drivers with an annual multi-billion-dollar impact, we are uniquely positioned to empower entrepreneurs as they take their small businesses to new heights.” SOAR will not only support small businesses but also expand DTW’s concessions program by offering customers more specialty retail options in the Evans Terminal.”
