Fox, Disney, Warner Bros., and Discovery to Join Forces for New Sports-Streaming Platform Venu Sports

The new sports-streaming service, Venu Sports, is set to be launched by Walt Disney, Warner Bros. Discovery, and Fox. The CEO of the venture, Pete Distad, confirmed that the service is on track for launch in the fall.

Announced in February, Venu Sports aims to attract younger viewers who are not watching cable TV through a bundled offering of professional and collegiate sports rights like the NFL, NBA, and FIFA World Cup. Subscribers will have the option to bundle the service with Disney+, Hulu, or Max through a new app.

The joint venture still needs regulatory approval and definitive agreements among the companies. Fox CEO Lachlan Murdoch previously stated that they expect 5 million subscribers within the first five years of launch. The addressable market for Venu Sports is anticipated to be between 50 million and 60 million viewers.

Murdoch expressed confidence in overcoming regulatory hurdles for the venture. Venu Sports aims to capture a significant market share of sports streaming services by offering a broad portfolio of sports content to a younger audience.
