In season opener, Wings secure 87-79 victory over Sky

The Chicago Sky put up a good fight, with all five of their starters scoring in double figures. Marina Mabrey led the team with 19 points and nine rebounds. Diamond DeShields, Angel Reese, Elizabeth Williams, and Dana Evans also made significant contributions to the Sky’s effort.

The Dallas Wings opened their season with an exciting 87-79 victory over the Chicago Sky. Arike Ogunbowale led the charge with 25 points, including 14 in the crucial fourth quarter. Teaira McCowan and Natasha Howard both had impressive double-doubles to help secure the win for the Wings.

Throughout the game, both teams exchanged leads with the Sky holding a narrow 43-40 advantage at halftime. Dallas fought back and took a 36-35 lead in the second quarter. Stephanie Soares made a key basket for the Wings, with McCowan also making a strong impact in the first half.

In the final minutes of the game, the Wings trailed 75-73 before going on a 14-0 run to pull ahead. Ogunbowale hit a deep 3-pointer to seal the victory with a score of 87-75. Howard contributed 15 points and 13 rebounds, while Maddy Siegrist added 13 points off
