Junior World Championships in Italy Attract Skiers from Winter Park

Olivia Maurais and Asher Michel, two talented skiers from the Winter Park Competition Center, have been selected to represent the Stifel U.S. Freestyle Ski Team and U.S. Ski & Snowboard at the Freestyle Junior World Ski Championships in Valmalenco, Italy.

Maurais has had a standout season, competing in multiple NorAm and World Cup events and placing ninth in moguls at the U.S. Freestyle National Championships and fifth in moguls at the NorAm Cup at Deer Valley Resort. She also won third place at Winter Park Resort in front of her hometown crowd.

On the other hand, Michel has also excelled this season, earning gold in dual moguls at the NorAm Cup at Stratton Mountain Resort on March 2 and making his second appearance at the championships where he won gold in team dual moguls race and placed third in moguls in 2023.

Both athletes have been preparing tirelessly for this upcoming event and their performances will be closely watched by fans and competitors alike as they aim to make their mark on the international stage and bring home more accolades for themselves and their team.
