Small Business Expo to Be Hosted in New York City

The Adams administration is hosting a special event to support small businesses in the city as part of National Small Business Month. The Small Business Month Expo, organized by the city Department of Small Business Services, will be held on May 29 at Pier 36 in downtown Manhattan. This expo aims to help small business owners in various industries by providing opportunities to connect with city agencies, access legal and financial resources, and navigate through license and permit procedures.

During an interview on “Mornings On 1” Thursday, Commissioner Kevin Kim of the city’s Department of Small Business Services explained that the expo will bring together all the free resources that New York City has to offer to support small businesses. Whether someone is looking to start a business, already operating one, or hoping to grow their business, they will find valuable assistance at the expo. Additionally, 40 sister agencies will be present to discuss government contracting opportunities.

In addition to the expo, a new advertising campaign with the slogan “Shop Your City” is set to launch to encourage New Yorkers to support small businesses. Commissioner Kim also highlighted the existing support available to small business owners through the New York City Business Express Service Team. In the past two years, this team has helped over 5,000 businesses save $31 million by streamlining processes and cutting red tape. They are committed to helping businesses open in half the time it would typically take.

Overall, these efforts demonstrate the city’s dedication to supporting and promoting small businesses. By providing resources, assistance, and opportunities
