St. Clair Avenue reopens following business fire incident

On the 16000 block of St. Clair Avenue, a massive fire broke out at Mike Pusateri Excavating around 4 p.m. The cause of the fire remains unknown, and it is unclear if anyone has been injured.

The road on St. Clair Avenue has reopened after six fire departments worked tirelessly to extinguish the blaze. Calcutta, Liverpool Township, Negley, Highland Township, and Glenmoore were all on the scene to help put out the remaining flames. However, the road between McGuffey Drive and McCoy Avenue remains blocked off as crews continue their work.

Despite no injuries being reported, Lt. Randy Schneider of the Calcutta Fire Department says that two firefighters suffered minor burns to their faces and necks and were taken to the hospital for treatment. The owner of the business estimates that the losses from the fire are around $750,000. Additionally, during the firefighting efforts, there were explosions from propane and oxygen tanks that added to the danger of the situation.

The investigation into the cause of the fire is ongoing, and this story will be updated as more information becomes available.
