New College Basketball Crown Tournament from Fox Sports Set to Debut in 2025 as NIT Rival

The NIT tournament, officially announced by Fox Sports, will be held in Las Vegas’ MGM Garden Arena and MGM Arena from March 31, 2025 to April 6. The tournament will consist of 16 teams, with automatic bids going to two squads from the Big Ten, Big 12 and Big East conferences. These conferences have television agreements with Fox Sports. The remaining teams will be at-large participants.

Unlike previous years, only men’s teams will be included in the tournament. The NIT is a consolation tournament for teams that missed out on the NCAA Tournament. Some teams opted out of participating in the NIT this year to focus on the transfer portal. Rick Pitino’s St. John’s was one of those teams that chose not to participate.

The final matchup of the NIT tournament will take place on Thursday and feature Indiana State against Seton Hall. The game will be televised on ESPN.
