After 41 years of business, Furniture Warehouse set to close permanently

After 41 years of successful business in Manhattan, Furniture Warehouse located at 2326 Skyvue Lane is set to close for good. Steve Williams, the second-generation owner of the store, has announced that shuttering his business was part of a long-term strategy for eventual retirement. Williams and his wife have been working on a 10-year plan that took them 12 years to implement. They are now ready to enjoy their dream of traveling and exploring what lies outside of Manhattan.

Furniture Warehouse began its effort to sell off remaining inventory on June 6, with a “quitting business sale” that will last approximately 90 days. The store will have modified hours during that time, open Thursday through Monday, with Tuesdays and Wednesdays reserved for moving stock from the warehouse to the showroom. Williams started the business with his father in 1983 and reflected on the end of his business on the first day of the everything-must-go sale. He expressed gratitude to the community for their support and found it humbling to see old friends and customers who came in to give well wishes.

Williams admitted that he would miss being in the retail business but was excited to explore new opportunities after devoting most of his time to it. Once Furniture Warehouse closes, Williams and his wife plan to travel extensively, visiting all the places they have only heard about before. They aim to create a bucket list of destinations they want to explore and fulfill their dream of traveling and experiencing new adventures by getting an RV to travel various locations people have been talking about.
