North Texas Baker Experiences Business Boom with Taylor Swift-Themed Super Bowl Cookies

Michelle Allen is a Grapevine-based home baker who runs a small business called Mellow Treats. Every Valentine’s Day, she is busy creating sweet treats for her business. However, this year has been particularly busy for her. She explained that she started baking on Monday and has been baking all day and night ever since. She even had to cut down on the number of orders she could accept because she was feeling overwhelmed.

A few weeks ago, Allen posted online that her business would be offering cookie designs for the Super Bowl. This led to an overwhelming response from customers, and she sold 51 dozen cookies for a special event that she usually doesn’t cater to. She notes that her clientele usually isn’t interested in Super Bowl-themed treat, but this year there was a lot of interest. She mentioned that there has been some mixed reaction to her Super Bowl cookies, but she is happy to create a variety of treats for everyone this Sunday.

Nicole Nielsen joined the CBS 11 news team in June 2020. She is a North Texas native and is excited to work for the station she grew up watching. Nielsen shared that the next generation seems more interested in watching football with their families and being part of the event. Allen has created a Taylor Swift-themed Super Bowl cookie set, and it became a massive hit with customers. Despite some negativity, Allen remains enthusiastic and thinks it’s all about having fun and spreading happiness through her baking.
