Bulldogs land top-tier recruit: Four-star athlete commits

Georgia’s recruiting efforts are gaining momentum as more talented players join the Bulldogs. On Thursday night, Derrek Cooper, a four-star running back from Hollywood, Florida, announced his commitment to Georgia over Alabama, Florida State, and Miami. Cooper is an athlete and a running back, having played both sides in high school.

Cooper stands at 6 feet tall and weighs 190 pounds. He played high school football at Chaminade-Madonna Prep and caught nine passes for 71 yards as a receiver last year. He also spent most of his time at safety, recording 49 tackles and four interceptions. In an interview with On3, Cooper mentioned that Crawford likes his ability to catch the ball and play as a receiver out of the backfield, which aligns with Georgia’s offensive plan.

Cooper joins five-star quarterback Jared Curtis as the Bulldogs’ second commit in the class of 2026. With talented players like Cooper choosing to join the team, it seems like Georgia’s recruiting efforts are paying off.
