Chancellor Olaf Scholz denounces Tucker Carlson’s interview with Putin as ‘ridiculous’ and ‘absurd’

The German Chancellor, Olaf Scholz, has strongly condemned the recent interview given by Russian President Vladimir Putin to the ultraconservative American journalist Tucker Carlson. Scholz described Putin’s comments as a “mockery” and a “completely absurd explanation” of the situation in Ukraine. He reaffirmed Germany’s support for Ukraine and met with President Joe Biden to request additional funds for the country. Scholz also accused Putin of “telling a lot of lies” and criticized Russia’s behavior in Ukraine. The European Union recently agreed to provide €50 billion in aid to Ukraine until 2027, with Germany being the second-largest contributor.
