Joe Thuney ruled out, Jerick McKinnon questionable for Chiefs vs. 49ers in Super Bowl 58 due to injuries

The Kansas City Chiefs are facing some injury challenges ahead of Super Bowl LVIII against the San Francisco 49ers. Joe Thuney has been ruled out due to a pectoral injury, while Prince Tega Wanogho has also been ruled out due to a quad injury. Jerick McKinnon is listed as questionable with a groin injury.

Prince Tega Wanogho was activated from injured reserve this week but was limited in practice throughout the week. Joe Thuney, on the other hand, was a non-participant in practice all week. Chiefs head coach Andy Reid addressed Thuney’s status earlier in the week and hinted that Nick Allegretti, who played well in Thuney’s place against the Baltimore Ravens in the AFC championship game, will be starting in his place.

Reid mentioned that it’s unlikely for Thuney to play due to the strength of his injury. Charles Omenihu has been placed on injured reserve after injuring his knee during Kansas City’s win over Baltimore in the AFC title game, ruling him out for Sunday’s game.

Despite the setbacks, the Chiefs are determined to secure their second straight Super Bowl title. If Jerick McKinnon is able to play, he will add another pass-catching option to their backfield lineup.
