West Kentucky Community and Technical College (WKCTC) has been awarded a $50,000 grant from the Paducah Area Community Reuse Organization to support the creation of an Aviation Maintenance Technology program. This grant will play a significant role in establishing the new program, which is projected to have a positive impact on the local community and create employment opportunities.
The Aviation Maintenance Technology program is expected to meet the growing demand for aviation mechanics worldwide and contribute to the economic growth of the region. With projections indicating a need for 739,000 new aviation mechanics over the next 20 years and Kentucky ranking second nationally in aerospace-related exports, this program is expected to be highly successful.
WKCTC President Anton Reece believes that the program will play a significant role in creating employment opportunities and positively impacting the local community. He is dedicated to its success, along with Greg Wiles, PACRO Executive Director, PACRO Board Chair Eddie Jones, and AMT Program Coordinator Bruce Glasco.
The college plans to launch the Aviation Maintenance Technology program in August 2024 with the support and funding provided by PACRO. This grant will help establish the program and ensure its success in meeting the growing demand for aviation mechanics in Kentucky and beyond.
