Lakers granted opportunity to interview highly-regarded Nuggets assistant David Adelman | Sports

The Lakers are currently in search of a new head coach and one potential candidate is Denver Nuggets assistant David Adelman. According to ESPN, Adelman is among a group of coaches that the Lakers have been given permission to interview for the position.

Adelman, who is 43 years old, joined the Denver coaching staff prior to the 2017-18 season and has played a key role in overseeing the team’s offense. In the absence of head coach Michael Malone, Adelman has stepped in as the acting head coach on several occasions over the last few seasons. His coaching career began at the high school level before making the jump to the NBA as a player-development coach for the Timberwolves in 2011, where his father, Rick Adelman, was the head coach.

The decision to look for a new coach came after the Lakers were eliminated by the Nuggets in a five-game series in the first round of the playoffs, leading to the firing of previous head coach Darvin Ham.
