Expectant mother abandons baby at Lomita establishment

An infant was abandoned by an unidentified woman at a Lomita store on Tuesday afternoon, prompting Los Angeles County deputies to take action. The incident was reported to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department by store employees, who informed deputies that the woman entered the business with the baby in her arms and requested employees to call her a taxi while she went to the restroom.

In the meantime, a store employee arranged for the taxi while the woman placed the baby in a shopping cart and headed to the restroom. When the taxi arrived, however, the woman exited the store, leaving behind the infant in the shopping cart and vanished with the taxi on an unknown route. The baby was estimated to be between seven and nine months old and had no identification or known background.

Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department urged anyone with pertinent information that could help identify either the baby or the woman to contact their local law enforcement agency. Those who wish to submit anonymous tips can call LA Crime Stoppers at 1(800) 222-8477 or do so through their website. The department also requested anyone who may have seen or interacted with either party prior to this incident to come forward and provide any available details that could help solve this case.
