Marquette ranked No. 4 and Indiana State back in AP Top 25 for first time since Larry Bird era in college basketball

UConn and Purdue maintained their positions as the top two teams in the AP Top 25 men’s college basketball poll for a fifth week. However, 17 ranked teams experienced at least one loss, resulting in a major shakeup in the rankings. Marquette climbed three spots to No. 4 and Iowa State moved up four spots to No. 10, taking advantage of losses suffered by other top-ranked teams such as Kansas, North Carolina, and Tennessee.

Arizona also made a comeback into the top five after winning seven of its last eight Pac-12 games and being one game ahead in the conference regular-season race. Indiana State made its return to the rankings after many years of absence, listed at No. 23 this week following victories over Valpo and Missouri State.

In this week’s AP Top 25, UConn holds the top spot while Purdue is at No. 2. Houston ranks third, with Marquette at No. 4 and Arizona at No. 5. Kansas, North Carolina, Tennessee, and Duke are just outside the top ten. Further down the rankings, teams receiving votes include Utah St., Colorado St., Texas Tech
