Michigan Matters: Highlighting African American Business Success

In this edition of “Michigan Matters,” Dr. Kenneth Harris of the National Business League discusses the impact of the three-year supplier program that has helped Black suppliers secure over $100 million in new business. The program, featured on “Michigan Matters,” has been instrumental in empowering Black-owned suppliers and is presented by Dr. Forrest Carter and Gregory Hawkins of Stellantis.

The show then shifts its focus to women and minorities in Metro Detroit, with Nancy Tellem of Bas Blue discussing her non-profit’s Zero-to-One program, which assists underrepresented female entrepreneurs in Detroit. The program is currently helping 10 small business owners with their ventures.

This episode of “Michigan Matters” airs on Sundays at 5:30 a.m. on CBS Detroit and at noon on Detroit 50 WKBD. It also streams on CBS Detroit’s website, CBS Detroit’s app, and Pluto TV. The show is hosted by 13-time Emmy-winning senior producer Carol Cain.
