In January, Reuben Drees, a Mower County youth, was selected to join the newly formed animal science youth leadership team by Minnesota 4-H. This team, comprised of 17 youth members in grades 8 and up, aims to bring youth voice to 4-H animal science programming. The team members will be responsible for planning, implementing, and evaluating various animal science programs while honing their leadership skills and exploring their passions. Additionally, the team will serve as role models for Minnesota 4-H and the animal science program.
During their first meeting, the team identified education, recruitment, and expanded opportunities for 4-H youth as areas of focus. This initiative is one of many 4-H opportunities for Minnesota youth interested in animal science programs. Those interested in learning more about this opportunity can contact Extension Educators David Foley [firstname.lastname@example.org] and Katie Johnson [email@example.com].
