Natural Cycles, the first contraceptive app in the world, secures $55 million in funding

Natural Cycles, a women’s health company, has just completed a $55 million Series C financing round, bringing their total funding to over $95 million. Founded in 2013 by Dr. Elina Berglund Scherwitzl and Dr. Raoul Scherwitzl, Natural Cycles developed the first direct-to-consumer contraceptive app that has been used by over three million users worldwide. It is the only digital form of birth control approved by regulators in the United States, Europe, Canada, Australia, Singapore, and South Korea.

The company’s CEO, Dr. Raoul Scherwitzl, is excited about leveraging the expertise of their investors to expand their mission of providing hormone-free birth control and using technology and science to address gaps in women’s health care. Earlier this month, Natural Cycles introduced NC° Postpartum, a new feature within their app designed to support new mothers during the physical and mental recovery from childbirth.

Lauxera Capital Partners led the funding round with participation from Point72 Private Investments and a revolving debt facility from J.P. Morgan. Samuel Levy, founding partner of Lauxera Capital Partners, highlighted the company’s commitment to supporting innovative entrepreneurs in the medical field. Levy will also join Natural Cycles’ Board of Directors as part of the investment. The funds raised will be used to accelerate commercial growth, develop new products and automate healthcare reimbursement processes.
