Maren Louridas Recognized for Academic Achievement on College Sports Communicators All-District Team

Maren Louridas, a sophomore at the Naval Academy, has been recognized for her accomplishments both on the basketball court and in the classroom. She was recently named to the College Sports Communicators Academic All-District Team, adding to her previous selection to the 2023-24 Patriot League All-Academic Team.

Louridas is a standout player for the Navy basketball team, starting in 60 out of a possible 61 games and scoring an average of 8.7 points per game with 528 points. She has also been a strong presence on the boards, with a rebounding rate of 5.2 per game and 317 rebounds. Her one-on-one defense skills have made her an important asset to the team, and she has played significant minutes in both her freshman and sophomore seasons, averaging 31.9 minutes per game which ranks fifth all-time in Navy’s career record book.

In addition to her success on the court, Louridas has excelled in the classroom as well. She maintains a perfect GPA of 4.0 in cyber operations over her first three semesters at the Naval Academy. She has received three Commandant’s List accolades and was named to the 2022-23 Patriot League Honor Roll.

The Navy basketball program also had an impressive season, with one of the biggest single-season turnarounds in NCAA Division I. The team increased their win total by 13 games and finished in a four-way tie for fifth place in the Patriot League, just one game out of second place.
