Construction Begins on Bozeman Health’s Adult Inpatient Behavioral Health Unit

A new unit has been constructed at Bozeman Health Deaconess Regional Medical Center, aimed at providing emergency mental health services in Montana. According to mental health therapist Rebecka Pearson, while there has been progress in mental health services and crisis intervention, there is still much work to be done.

Nicole Madden, the system director for behavioral health at the medical center, announced the construction of the adult inpatient behavioral health unit. This unit will offer customized care to up to 14 adult patients and will provide a safe and therapeutic environment for those experiencing mental health crises. Madden emphasized the importance of having a facility close to home for mental health care, as it can be terrifying and isolating for patients to travel long distances for help.

The new 9,100-square-foot unit is designed to create a calming and therapeutic space for patients. Madden believes that the construction of this unit is a significant step in providing specialized mental health care within the community. She believes that this initiative should inspire more conversations about mental health and help reduce the stigma associated with it.

According to Pearson, individuals seeking in-patient mental health specialty care often face inconvenience as they have to travel outside of Gallatin County. However, with the new adult inpatient behavioral health unit located closer to home, patients will have access to specialized care without having to travel long distances.

Madden highlighted the importance of having a facility that offers customized care close to home as it can provide a safe and supportive environment for those experiencing mental health crises. The construction of this unit represents a significant step towards providing specialized mental health care within the community.

In conclusion, the construction of an adult inpatient behavioral health unit at Bozeman Health Deaconess Regional Medical Center is an important development aimed at improving emergency mental health services in Montana.
