New England Patriots add rookie WR JaQuae Jackson and release WR T.J. Luther

The New England Patriots made a roster move on Thursday, signing undrafted free agent receiver JaQuae Jackson while parting ways with first-year receiver T.J. Luther.

Jackson, who had signed with the Atlanta Falcons as an undrafted free agent from Rutgers on April 30, was cut by the Falcons earlier this week before getting picked up by the Patriots.

Meanwhile, Luther, 24, entered the NFL as an undrafted free agent signed by the Jets in May 2023. He spent most of his rookie season on the Patriots’ practice squad after being released by the Jets. Luther attended college at Wofford before transferring to Gardner-Webb for his final season in 2022.

Last year, Jackson had a solid season playing for California (Pennsylvania), recording 361 yards on 22 receptions with one touchdown in 13 games, starting 12 of them. With his experience and talent, he could be a valuable addition to the Patriots’ offense.
