Saltzer Health divests 4 care facilities

Saltzer Health, a physician group based in Nampa, Idaho, has recently sold three facilities to Saint Alphonsus Health System, located in Boise, Idaho. This transfer of ownership occurred after Saltzer Health was closed on March 29 by Intermountain Health, which is based in Salt Lake City.

The facilities that were sold include two urgent care centers in South Nampa and Meridian, Idaho, as well as an Ambulatory Surgery Center (ASC) in Meridian. The urgent care centers were initially closed on March 29 but are expected to reopen in May once Saint Alphonsus installs the necessary IT equipment and an Electronic Health Record (EHR) system. The ASC, on the other hand, has continued to operate without interruption under the new ownership.

In January, Saltzer Health had filed a Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification (WARN) notice for the Meridian surgery center, indicating that 216 employees would be affected by the closure. Saint Alphonsus has stated its intention to employ all remaining ambulatory surgery colleagues who pass their pre-employment screening process. Additionally, recruitment efforts are currently underway for urgent care positions, with current Saltzer Health colleagues being given priority consideration for these roles.

Saint Alphonsus is a nonprofit health system that is part of Trinity Health based in Livonia, Michigan. The system operates four hospitals with a combined total of 595 beds and 74 medical group clinics. It also has seven joint venture relationships and employs over 6,200 people. With its significant presence in the healthcare landscape, Saint Alphonsus plays an important role in providing quality care to patients across Boise and surrounding areas.

Apart from the facilities sold to Saint Alphonsus, Saltzer Health Imaging at Ten Mile Clinic in Meridian was acquired by Intermountain Medical Imaging based in Meridian. The imaging center is expected to reopen under the new ownership during the week of April 8.

Intermountain Medical Imaging confirmed that multiple employees from Saltzer Health Imaging will be offered positions and additional employment opportunities may arise in the future. It’s important to note that Intermountain Medical Imaging and Intermountain Health are separate entities despite their similar names.

Overall this sale marks a significant change for both parties involved but it will allow them to continue providing high quality medical services for their patients while also allowing them to grow their business operations.
