MPS Manufacturing sets sights on business expansion in New Philadelphia

In the city of New Philadelphia, a rubber molding company is seeking to rezone a residential property to industrial in order to expand its business. The company, MPS Manufacturing, has recently acquired a machine shop in Tallmadge and is moving it to New Philadelphia, which will create one new job.

The company, which was started in 2005 and has grown to employ 18 workers, recently hired another employee. They supply the entire North American GM Truck market with various rubber moldings and have nine robots in its plant. MPS Manufacturing hopes to bring in some aerospace work and expand its CNC mold shop in an existing building at 407 Kaserman Ave. NE.

The city’s planning commission has already approved the zoning change, and an ordinance is in the process of receiving its final readings. A public hearing will be held before the measure gets its third reading, marking an important step in the expansion process. Service Director Ron McAbier praised the company, urging council members to see “what they do over there.”
