World Aquatics has selected a Stabilization Committee to oversee operations at the Tunisian Swimming Federation.

World Aquatics has appointed a Stabilization Committee to take over the day-to-day operations of the Tunisian Swimming Federation following recent incidents. These incidents included the arrest of the head of the organization after he attempted to enforce WADA sanctions.

The Stabilization Committee will be responsible for managing all operations of the Tunisian Swimming Federation, making necessary changes to the federation’s Constitution, and organizing a new election within a six-month timeframe. This move is aimed at ensuring that the Tunisian Swimming Federation upholds the highest standards of good governance and transparency for the benefit of all Tunisian athletes.

Mohamed Zribi has been appointed as the chairman of the Stabilization Committee, with Maha Zaoui, Chaker Belhaj, and Said Ouenzerfi serving as board members. World Aquatics confirmed Zribi as the committee’s chair and Zaoui as the point of contact for the interim organization. The use of stabilization committees has been seen in other countries like the Philippines, Mexico, and Kenya, with domestic appointments taking on key roles to address similar issues.
