NFL plans to host two Christmas games in 2025

The NFL has made the decision to play two games on Christmas next year, after originally not scheduling any games on Christmas this year. During a conference call discussing the 2024 schedule, the league revealed that Christmas 2025, which falls on a Thursday, will feature a Netflix game in the afternoon and an Amazon game in the evening.

While some fans may be disappointed that only two games will be played on Christmas, there is still a possibility of a third game being added. Historically, the NFL has played three games on Thanksgiving, so it’s possible that they could follow a similar setup on Christmas. Despite concerns about short-week football and its potential impact on injury rates, the NFL believes that the injury rate remains consistent regardless of whether there are six days or three days between games.

Many fans are questioning why the NFL wouldn’t take advantage of the entire Christmas day when it falls on a Thursday, Friday, Saturday, Sunday or Monday. With so many options for scheduling games over the holiday season, fans may be hoping for more than just two to be added to the lineup in future years.
