OLLU Softball Secures Spot in NAIA World Series with Impressive Wins

The OLLU softball team, currently ranked number one in the nation with a record of 53-3, is heading back to the NAIA World Series after dominating their opponents in the San Antonio bracket of the NAIA Opening Round Championship. Senior outfielder Kayla Dreese expressed her excitement at being in this position once again and emphasized the team’s main goal of winning a championship.

The Saints secured the opening round title with a 2-0 shutout victory over Hope International University. In the fifth inning, senior pitcher Cassie Valdez hit a game-winning 2-run home run, breaking the stalemate and securing the win for OLLU. Valdez’s performance was praised by head coach Bruce Lenington, who pointed out the significance of her home run in breaking the deadlock. Valdez herself credited her aggressive approach and readiness for any pitch thrown her way in the crucial moment.
