Plymouth Science Park acquires two Stratasys 3D printers.

Plymouth Science Park recently acquired two Stratasys 3D printing machines through UK reseller Laser Lines, bringing the total to four at its Advanced Digital Manufacturing and Innovation Centre (ADMI). The science park, which has been operating for over 25 years, occupies 25 acres and houses a mix of global businesses, local start-ups, and academics.

The ADMI offers consultation services to provide organizations with practical advice on how 3D printing can help them achieve their goals. It is committed to helping businesses understand the capabilities of additive manufacturing technology and its applications to their business needs. To further this goal, the ADMI has recently invested in a Stratasys F770 FDM 3D printer and a J55 PolyJet machine.

Clients of the ADMI will have direct access to these machines along with support and training to better understand how the technology works and its applications to their business. The F770 machine was chosen for its large build volume, suitability for office environments, and reliability, while the J55 system was acquired to produce accurate prototype parts due to its full-color capability.

According to Jacques Wood, Senior Digital Applications Engineer at Plymouth Science Park, “We show people how to properly utilize 3D printing, helping them understand its capabilities, when it is appropriate to use, and when not to consider it. Many manufacturing businesses in the area have misconceptions about additive manufacturing
