The Ministry of Health in Vietnam Advises Limiting Outdoor Activity on Hot Days

The Ministry of Health has issued a recommendation to limit outdoor activities between 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. on hot days and drink at least 1.5-2 liters of water per day. This recommendation was included in an official dispatch sent to localities on prevention and protection of public health and workers against the effects of heat, drought, and saltwater intrusion. The intense heat appearing in many parts of the country has prompted this advice, with the North experiencing early heat and the South regularly reaching temperatures of 37-38 degrees Celsius.

During this season, common health problems include heat stroke, heat exhaustion, and dehydration. These issues are often caused by prolonged exposure to high temperatures or sudden changes in environmental temperature. High-risk groups include the elderly, young children, pregnant women, and those who work in hot environments for extended periods. Individuals with chronic diseases are also susceptible to serious illness during hot weather conditions.

To prevent these issues, it is recommended that people limit sun exposure by wearing light-colored clothing and staying hydrated by drinking water regularly. It’s also important to eat foods high in water content such as fruits and vegetables like cucumbers or watermelon which can help keep you cool while replenishing lost minerals through beverages like oresol that contain electrolytes which can help maintain proper hydration levels in your body when working in hot environments for extended periods it’s important to adjust schedules to avoid peak temperatures and take regular breaks in shaded areas while wearing protective clothing such as hats and sunglasses to minimize sun exposure when possible.

When working in the sun it is important to drink water regularly every 45 minutes or an hour to prevent overheating, symptoms of heat-related illnesses can range from mild fatigue and thirst to severe headache, difficulty breathing, even cardiovascular collapse.
