The 2023 Music City Bowl Generates $23 Million Boost for Nashville’s Economy

In 2023, the Music City Bowl had a direct economic impact of $23 million on Nashville’s economy, according to officials. The game was played at Nissan Stadium on December 30, with an attendance of 50,088. This made it the fourth-largest attendance among college football bowl games in 2023 excluding the College Football Playoff.

Scott Ramsey, President & CEO of the Music City Bowl, expressed delight at the positive economic impact of the event and credited the support from fans, sponsors, and the community for its success. The record economic impact for the bowl was $32 million in 2021 when Purdue defeated Tennessee in front of a sold-out crowd.

In addition to generating revenue for the city’s economy, the Music City Bowl also contributed significantly to tourism. In 2023, it generated a total of 24,363 room nights during the festivities. Out-of-town attendees spent an average of $243 per day while in-town attendees contributed an average of $206 per day in spending. Since its establishment in 1998, the Music City Bowl has contributed over $400 million in direct economic impact to Nashville’s economy.
