Business Students from Bay College and Lake Superior State University receive awards at Leadership Conference

The Business Professionals of America (BPA) National Leadership Conference (NLC) took place in Chicago, Illinois from May 10 – 13, 2024. This year’s NLC was attended by the Bay College / LSSU Regional Center BPA student club, and two of its members medaled in their respective events.

Griffin Johnson, BPA Club President, captured first place in Ethics & Professionalism, second place in Prepared Speech, and third place in Contemporary Issues. Tregan Lippens, BPA Vice President, took second place in Ethics & Professionalism and fourth place in Contemporary Issues.

The NLC attracted a record crowd of over 6,500 contestants this year, including both High School and Collegiate competitors. Griffin Johnson expressed his gratitude to the event’s sponsors for making the trip possible. “I’d like to thank all our sponsors that made this trip possible,” he said. “Without your support, none of what we experienced would be possible.”

Griffin Johnson added that this year’s NLC was one of the best experiences of his life. He appreciated the opportunity to compete at the highest level and navigate rush hour traffic in Chicago while also getting to travel outside of the Upper Peninsula. The experience furthered his educational experience and gave him memories that will last a lifetime.
