Hungarian National Championships Mark Milak’s Return to Competition

The 2024 Hungarian National Championships will see the return of world record holder Kristof Milak to competition. The 24-year-old athlete is entered in six events during the Olympic-qualifying competition from April 9th to April 12th. Milak will compete in the 50m, 100m, and 200m freestyle events, as well as the 50m, 100m, and 200m butterfly. Despite being out of the pool since last year’s Hungarian Championships, Milak already holds Olympic Qualification Times in the 100m (50.80) and 200m fly (1:52.58) from that competition. He resumed training in mid-January and aims to be in his best form for the Paris Olympic Games.

Other notable athletes to watch at the championships include Zalan Sarkany, a PAC-12 conference record holder who set a conference record with a time of 14:23.01 in the men’s 1650y freestyle at the championships and later won an NCAA Championship title in the same event with a time of 14:30.57. Nikolett Padar is also set to compete alongside Gabor Zombori and Boglarka Kapas in various events at this year’s Hungarian national championships.
