Revolutionizing Sports Performance: How 3D Motion Technology is Transforming Your Health

Across the country, over 30 million kids participate in organized sports, but injuries are a common occurrence. Every year, more than 3.5 million kids are sidelined due to injuries, with many being caused by overuse and incorrect form. Now, advanced technology that was once only available to professional athletes is helping young athletes improve their game.

High school baseball pitcher Quin Brigham has been throwing baseballs for as long as he can remember. Despite experiencing pain in his arm and elbow, he continued to play until he sought help from motion capture technology. At Midwest Orthopaedics at Rush Sports Performance Center, athletic trainer Dave Heidloff uses 3D models to analyze Quin’s throwing mechanics. The technology can identify inefficiencies that lead to reduced speed, increased injury risk, and overstressed tissues.

By measuring 13 joint movements in real-time, timing, nine different stresses on the shoulder and elbow, as well as other factors like velocity, strength, and balance, trainers can make immediate interventions to correct technique. Quin made adjustments based on the feedback from the technology, leading to a pain-free experience and improved performance.

Quin’s goal is to play college baseball, and he believes that this technology will be a game-changer for his career. 3D motion capture technology is beneficial not only for baseball players but for any athlete experiencing recurrent pain. With this advanced technology available to young athletes
