Ryan Grubb has decided to take a position with the NFL’s Seattle Seahawks, rather than joining Kalen DeBoer at Alabama as previously anticipated. This move comes after his departure from Washington last month.
Grubb and DeBoer have a long history together, having coached together at various schools and colleges. Grubb was expected to fill the role of Alabama’s offensive coordinator, as he was a hot candidate in the coaching market after the Huskies’ College Football Playoff run. He even went as far as announcing his new role during an event at Alabama’s Bryant-Denny Stadium before the change of plans.
Instead, Grubb will be joining the coaching staff of new Seahawks head coach Mike Macdonald, bringing nearly two decades of college coaching experience to the NFL. This move fills one of the final significant holes for the Seahawks, who are also reported to be hiring new personnel for other coaching positions.
With Grubb’s hiring, the Seahawks gain a rising star for their offense, and they are also in the market for a quarterback of the future. Meanwhile, Alabama is once again searching for an offensive coordinator as the coaching cycle continues.
