Closing its doors after half a century in Worcester, Tatnuck Meat & Seafood bids farewell

For 50 years, Tatnuck Meat and Seafood in Worcester had been a staple in the community, offering a wide variety of meats and seafood. However, as the neighborhood changed and business started to decline, the shop at the corner of Pleasant and Mill streets had to close its doors permanently. Michael Slarskey, Harvey’s son who stepped in to help three years ago, expressed gratitude to their loyal customers throughout the years and acknowledged that it was time to close the business.

Harvey Slarskey started Tatnuck Meats Market in his 30s and was known for his dedication to providing quality products and building personal relationships with his customers. Over the decades, he expanded the selection to include seafood, adding fresh fish and shellfish in 2011. Despite the challenges of running a small business, he remained committed to maintaining high standards. In interviews over the years, he emphasized the importance of customer satisfaction and quality products.

With the closing of Tatnuck Meat and Seafood, an era has ended, but the legacy of Harvey Slarskey’s dedication to his customers will always be remembered. Michael shared that it was a difficult decision to close the business that had been a part of their lives for so long. However, he acknowledged that it was time for them to move on and focus on other opportunities.
