After a period of difficulties due to the pandemic, spotty snowfall, and a shortage of lift mechanics, the Slide Brook Express chairlift in Warren, Vermont is finally up and running once again. This 2-mile-long detachable quad chairlift was first constructed in the mid-1990s to connect Sugarbush’s Mount Ellen and Lincoln Peak, providing skiers and riders with a scenic view of the Mad River Valley.
Despite recent challenges, Smugglers’ Notch has been considering creating a gondola between their resort and Stowe Mountain resorts to maintain financial sustainability. However, those plans are currently on hold.
In celebration of its 30th anniversary in 2025, Slide Brook Express will express love for the unique lift despite the uncertainty of whether they would have built it again given the opportunity. The resort is grateful for its continued success over the years and looks forward to serving skiers and riders for many more seasons to come.
