Local community rallies around Peoria business in response to support request

The Popcorn Shoppe, a small business located at the Metro Centre, recently shared their struggles on social media. Owners Matt George and Niki Duckworth revealed that the winter season has been particularly slow, causing a significant decrease in sales.

The business expressed their inability to pay employees, afford rent or buy inventory. They urged the community to lend their support by sharing their post which received an overwhelming amount of support. Over 500 reactions and 2,000 shares later, other local businesses such as Big Mike’s Donuts & Coffee offered their support.

Despite the challenges, The Popcorn Shoppe continues to offer a variety of gourmet popcorn flavors, lemon shake ups, freeze-dried candy and other treats. They invited customers to take advantage of their specials and collaborate on fundraising events.

The Popcorn Shoppe provided an update after receiving an overwhelming amount of support from the community. They expressed gratitude for the outpouring of support while also emphasizing the ongoing need for continued assistance to stabilize their business.

The business’ call for help has not gone unheard and their story has resonated with the local community. It demonstrated the power of small businesses banding together to overcome challenges and succeed.
