Ryan Ficken remains with Chargers as special teams coordinator

As the new head coach of the Chargers, Jim Harbaugh has announced that he will be retaining Ryan Ficken as the team’s special teams coordinator for the 2024 season. This news was reported by Tom Pelissero of NFL Network. Ficken, who is 43 years old, has been with the Chargers since 2022 and has a wealth of experience in special teams coaching, having spent over a decade as an assistant coach in Minnesota. During his time with the Vikings, he served as their special teams coordinator in 2021.

It is also reported that Harbaugh’s son, Jay, will be leaving his position as Michigan’s special teams coordinator to take on a similar role with the Seahawks next season. With both father and son having extensive backgrounds in special teams coaching, it is expected that they will bring their expertise and knowledge to their respective new teams.
