Rochester’s popular coffee shop, Spot Coffee, has been temporarily closed by the Monroe County Health Dept. on Feb. 9 due to health code violations related to food safety. According to a sign on the door, the state health department has listed several violations including a “critical violation” related to unapproved and spoiled food on premises. Other violations are related to issues such as contamination control and pest management.
Spot Coffee’s District Operations Manager, Peter Kervin, stated that the company is taking the recent reports very seriously and immediately took action to address the issue. They are working with the county health department to rectify the situation and prevent any recurrence of violations. The company is committed to implementing thorough cleaning and sanitation procedures as well as working with pest control services.
No immediate word was given on when Spot will reopen, but the company expressed their appreciation for the community’s understanding and patience as they work towards resolving this matter.
