Member of Swedish Parliament resigns after singing “Foreigners Out”

Swedish MP David Lång has resigned from his mandate after singing racist lyrics to a Eurodance song at an EU election party, according to a statement from the Sweden Democrats. The incident occurred on Sunday evening at an event in Stockholm, where Lång sang the anti-immigration lyrics to the party hit “L’amour toujours” in front of a crowd.

This is not the first time that racist slogans have been associated with Eurodance music. In Germany, a video went viral on social media showing young people in a bar chanting “Germany for the Germans, foreigners out” to the song by Gigi D’Agostino. This sparked controversy and calls for action against hate speech in music.

The audio recording from the Sweden Democrats’ election party after the EU elections also features Lång singing “Foreigners out, foreigners out” while being interviewed by Expressen reporter. He can be heard saying “Oh shit” and asking if the reporter recorded it. The leader of the Sweden Democrats, Linda Lindberg, said she had asked Lång to resign following this incident.

Läng apologized for any offense caused and said he had only heard the song on social media until now. However, he recognized that the lyrics were sung in a context that he did not fully understand until it was brought up during his interview with Expressen. This incident has sparked debate about hate speech and its impact on society and culture.
